We are committed to the principle of sustainable development throughout the business of power generation.
We focus on ‘4R’ waste strategy – Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Reclaim and ‘Eco-friendly’ disposal of process residues.
We focus on efficient use of energy which is one of the most critical resources today. Our energy sources are both direct and indirect which include coal, fuel oil, high speed diesel. Reducing energy consumption in all forms is an integral part of our business strategy that focuses on lessening our carbon footprint. We have adopted best resources and efficient energy utilisation technologies to reduce our energy consumption such as:
Over the years with the in-house excellence and focused approach towards energy conservation, our rigorous efforts have led to reduction in energy consumption.
Nabha Power Limited activities have the potential to emit a number of emissions into the air, including particulate matter (dust), sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. We recognise that such emissions can have an impact on people and the environment, and we work to control and reduce our emissions through facility design and the use of emission controls, including dust suppressant and dust collection systems. As part of our regular environmental monitoring, we record the stack emission parameters, including, particulate matter (PM), SOx and Nox.
We make all efforts to keep our emissions in control by improving our operational processes and by increasing efforts on awareness drives. As a best practice management, we have installed a Continuous online emission monitoring system (CEMS) connected directly to the servers of Punjab Pollution Control Board as well as Central Pollution Control Board.
Coal Dust is another pertinent problem that we deal with in our Coal Handling areas and we take all appropriate measures to minimise the emissions. Coal transported to our location in Wagons is covered with tarpaulin cover that eliminates release of dust while transportation. We also take appropriate measures to extract dust settled on roads by daily sweeping using mechanical sweepers. . We also have mechanised sprinklers installed at Wagon Tipplers as well as Stockpile Areas which effectively control emissions while unloading of Coal as well as making it to fugitive.
